Norfolk-born shredding business surpasses £21.6m in annual revenue
The independently-owned company, which now operates UK-wide, shows no signs of slowing down.
This week, Shred Station celebrated 15 years of business after a record-breaking year of sales. Over 100 of the company’s employees travelled across the UK to meet at the International War Museum in Duxford where they celebrated with a company photoshoot and the chance to take in some of our nation’s history.
This milestone is a major achievement for Shred Station, which started off 15 years ago with just one shredding vehicle operating across Norfolk. The company now boasts a fleet of over 100 vehicles, employs 170 members of staff, and is the world’s largest independent shredding company.
“It’s been an amazing 15 years. Seeing so much of our fleet and workforce in one place really was eye-opening, not just for me but for every member of the team. We have grown massively.” says Simon Franklin, Managing Director and founder of Shred Station. “Norfolk remains at the heart of our business and we have plans to grow our footprint in the local area in the near future”.
This news comes in the wake of many recent initiatives and accomplishments of the company, including:
· Having a record-breaking year of sales, surpassing £21.6 million in turnover in 2022.
· This year celebrating five years of being a CarbonNeutral® certified company.
· Planting 10,067 new trees in 2022 through staff fundraising and company activities.
Shred Station is also currently working to offset all historic emissions and will be the first shredding company in the UK to achieve lifetime carbon neutrality.
“After winning the Green Business of the Year award at the Norfolk Business Awards in 2021, our annual turnover has grown from c.£16.6 million to c.£21.6 million in 2022. For 2023 we’re projecting around £26 million. Growth has been huge and our success proves that green businesses are the future” says Simon.
