Norfolk Product Photographer Gains World-Class Distinction

Norfolk product photographer Joe Lenton has become one of just 5 photographers in the world to gain a Fellowship distinction with The Society of International Commercial & Industrial Photographers. Fellowship of The Societies of Photographers is described on their website as the highest distinction they offer, recognising the photographer as a “master of their craft, able to create work of the highest standard both technically and artistically.”

Qualification is based on an assessment by 5 of the world’s leading judges of a panel of 20 printed images on a theme. Joe’s theme was product photography and the panel consisted of images of guitars.

This outstanding achievement took place in the 10th anniversary year of Joe losing his former career as a musician due to MS (Multiple Sclerosis). Losing the ability to play the guitar to the standard he was used to was a devastating blow. Not only did he lose his source of income, it was also the end of a creative era and a means of stress relief that was no longer available to him. Over the first few years of coming to terms with it all, photography became a therapeutic hobby that brought some creative relief. It gradually evolved into a business and a new career that would see him work with local, national and international brands.

Gaining the Fellowship in product photography followed on from 4 Associate level qualifications and numerous awards in international competitions. His first ever entry into the prestigious 20×16 print competition won a Merit award and hung in the exhibition at the trade fair. The Societies of Photographers recently appointed Joe as an ambassador and are now training him as a junior judge for their world-renowned competitions. He also led 2 Masterclasses on product photography at their international photography convention in March 2022.

Joe is proud to be a Buy Local Norfolk member and to be able to help local businesses create
images that stand out, enabling them to compete not just locally but on the national and
international markets. He is available as a freelance product photographer and architectural
photographer with a passion for creative, high-quality images.
